In honor of Martin Luther King Jr Day, I have made a donation to the Progress Center for Black Women. Looking for a meaningful way to support black women? Click here for the link to donate.
When I met Sabrina Madison (Heymiss Progress), founder of Progress Center for Black Women while working at Madison Area Technical College, I could see she is a force. Her Vision is "To create more powerful communities of Black women who are leaders, doers, and owners."
According to their website:
Entrepreneurship is increasing. Black women are the majority owners in more than 1.5 million businesses with more than $42 billion in sales and $7.7 billion in payroll, making them the ultimate decision makers for purchases of supplies, equipment and raw materials, as well as employee benefit products.
With a gender wage gap at $0.57 on the dollar, Black women earn $15K less annually than white women and $23K less than white men. (Status of Women in Dane County, 2016)
I am a Core Group Guide for CHIEF, and "CHIEF is designed for women in the C-Suite, senior executives, and accomplished VPs to strengthen their leadership, magnify their influence, and pave the way to bring others with them."
I know that women, working together, can accomplish great things. And when we support one another, we're unstoppable.
